
Marcia's eclectic career in music, film, television, and politics has spanned several decades. She began her career as a songwriter in Woodstock, New York, working with various writers and artists. Marcia signed with United Artists Music, and co-wrote "Once in a Lifetime," recorded by both Bonnie Raitt and Patty Loveless.
Marcia segued into television to run Steve Martin’s production company, 40 Share Productions, at Universal Studios. She later accepted the position of Vice President of Current Programming at Lorimar where she worked closely with writers and producers on many hit shows offering creative input on scripts, editing, and rough cuts.
Wanting to focus on writing, Marcia left the entertainment industry and moved to Austin, Texas to pursue a Bachelor 's degree in English and bought her first rescue horse.
In 2001, Marcia developed an idea for a niche dating site for horse lovers. EquestrianSingles.com was an instant success. It was featured on The Today Show, CNBC, and in the "Particular Hot Section" of Entrepreneur Magazine. She also appeared as a guest on the Oprah Winfrey Show. The site was sold to Farmers Only in 2016.
Marcia also served as a political consultant working as both a campaign manager and creative consultant on numerous state and local campaigns. Her Op Ed piece, "Dangerous Trucks," featured in the Austin American Statesman, helped change an arterial roadway located in a 30 MPH neighborhood, into a No Truck Zone. Marcia initiated important changes in both the county and city and lobbied for stricter laws in designated Flood Plains. She was appointed by Austin's Mayor Leffingwell to serve on the Austin Music Commission and was the liaison between the city and Jimmy Kimmel Live arranging for Kimmel to receive the key to the city. In Woodstock, Marcia served on the Zoning Board of Appeals until accepting another position.
In California, Marcia rallied longtime friend, Ed Begley, Jr., and together they convinced the San Bernardino Commissioners Court to save a parcel of national forest slated for development.
Marcia's true passion is writing. Her work has been featured in many publications and her essay "Turning Texan" was recently added to the prestigious Wittliff Southwestern Writers Collection at Texas State University. She has authored magazine cover stories, Op Ed pieces, and numerous essays and screenplays.
Currently, Marcia is working with Diane Warren, as Managing Director of the Diane Warren Foundation, offering generous grants to non-profits especially in animal rescue. She is also consulting with David Butts on the 2026 campaign for Gina Hinojosa's run for Texas Governor. Marcia splits her time between California and her home in Woodstock, New York.
